Meet John Ehteshami, M.D.

Orthopedic Cervical Spine Surgeon
Dr. John Ehteshami is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon with a focused practice dedicated to the treatment of cervical spine disease. His clinical expertise includes cervical stenosis, degenerative disc disease, neck and arm pain, and neurologic symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and weakness.
Dr. Ehteshami completed his medical training at Thomas Jefferson University and the Rothman Institute. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, consistently ranked among the top orthopedic programs in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. He then completed advanced spine fellowship training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, one of the nation’s leading spine surgery programs.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ehteshami has conducted extensive research, including work on cervical disc replacement and spine biomechanics. His current clinical focus emphasizes outpatient, micro-invasive, and image-guided techniques designed to improve precision, preserve motion when appropriate, and support efficient recovery.
With offices throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, Dr. Ehteshami is able to accommodate patients with urgent or progressive symptoms, often within the same week.
Patients experiencing neck pain with radiation into the arms, numbness in the fingers, or weakness in the hands or arms may have cervical nerve compression. Advanced imaging, such as MRI, plays a critical role in identifying these conditions. Severe cervical stenosis can lead to permanent nerve injury and should be evaluated by a spine specialist regardless of pain severity.
Many patients achieve excellent outcomes with nonoperative treatment. When surgery is necessary, a significant number of cervical spine procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis.
With experience performing hundreds of cervical spine surgeries each year, Dr. Ehteshami is widely recognized for his focused expertise in cervical spine care. Consultations for patients and referring providers are available through Cervical Spine Centers.
